Three Ideas To Help Fund Your Playground
Are you overwhelmed with sourcing funds for your playground project? The sooner you secure funding, the sooner you can start having fun planning, designing, and building your playground. Creating fun filled spaces that can deliver health and wellness benefits for your school, organization, or community should be exciting.
We understand that the early stages of such a project can be stressful, especially when it comes to determining a budget and raising the funds to make your goals a reality.
That’s why fun abounds has resources in place to help ease that stress. Here are a few of those options:
Playground grants and partnerships
One of the first items on your list when it comes to funding a playground is to explore the vast array of available grant opportunities.
Depending on the scope of your project, the goals you are attempting to achieve, and the nature of your group (school, daycare center, church, nonprofit, HOA, municipality, etc.), chances are you will find numerous grant opportunities — and then it is all about putting in the time and effort to apply.
Check out our Resources page for some examples of successful grant programs. And we can also assist you in finding others through grant directories during your playground planning process.
ESSER Funding
Your playground can help your community develop socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively, and showcasing those benefits can go a long way in helping with your fundraising efforts.
They can also be used to support the aforementioned grants, and they can help pursue funds through national or state programs.
For example, you might be eligible to apply for and receive funds through ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief), ARP (American Rescue Plan), CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security ACT), and more.
Local Fundraising Efforts
Nobody knows your local community better than you and the leadership group heading up your project. And so you’ll want to lean on each other when it comes to local fundraising for your playground.
A couple of ideas to get you started:
- Approach local businesses with donation or sponsorship opportunities, whether it’s seeing their business’ name on a plaque or being noted as having sponsored a specific piece of equipment.
- A raffle where at least half the proceeds go to the project, with the other half going to prizes.
- Hosting a community event where ticket proceeds go to the playground.
- Seek out recurring community events that often sponsor a different local program each week or month they are held.
